Obituary

Perry Garman, age 76, passed away on June 24, 2026. Born on August 12, 1949, in Rushville,

Indiana, Perry lived a life marked by service, faith, laughter, and love.

Perry proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1983, where he worked

in navigation. After his military service, he continued to dedicate himself to others through his

work as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional in Effingham County, Georgia. He also

worked for Great Dane Trailers in Savannah, where he was known for his strong work ethic and

dependability.

Perry was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland. Throughout

his life, he enjoyed watching football, listening to music, and spending time with those he loved.

He had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room and a steadfast faith in the

Lord that guided him throughout his life. His quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering belief in

God’s promises left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Above all, Perry cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Laurie

James Garman; his faithful canine companion, Mason; his sister, Susan Suer (Amet); his

brother, Barry Garman (Roshelle); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and

dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Garman; his mother, Bernadyne Hull; and his

sister, Jennifer.

A graveside service celebrating Perry’s life will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence

Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, giving thanks for a life

well lived and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Though he will be deeply missed, Perry’s family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at

peace in the presence of his Savior.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
