Marjorie “Marge” Collins Durden Hendrix passed away peaceful at her home on September 14,

2026. She was born on September 19, 1944, to Willard and Marie Coursey Collins in Metter,

Georgia. She attended school in Metter and Miami, Florida, and later attended Eastern New

Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, and South Plains College in Lubbock, Texas.

Throughout her life, Marge worked in retail sales, restaurant services, manufacturing, industrial

services, and research at Texas Tech University. One day after her 50th birthday, she received

her nursing licenses from South Plains College in Lubbock. She went on to serve as manager of

Elmbrook Estates Retirement and Assisted Living in Lubbock for more than two years before

moving to Statesboro.

After moving to Statesboro, Marge worked at Browns Health and Rehabilitation, Statesboro

Family Practice, and, lastly, as an occupational nurse at Viracon Glass Manufacturing, where she

remained until her retirement in 2015.

Even in retirement, Marge’s love for and dedication to caring for others continued. She worked

at Southern Manor and later as a personal caregiver, always finding ways to help and care for

those around her.

Marge was a member of First Baptist Church of Statesboro and the Kaleo Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her brothers, Freddie, Collis, Curtis,

Jim, and George; her sisters, Juanita Odom and Mary Lou Hendrix; and the father of her sons,

Tommy Durden.

Marge is survived by her husband of 16 years, Uley “Jack” Hendrix; her two sons and their

families, Steve Durden (Molly), granddaughter Michelle (Aaron) Brannen, and great-grandson

Ryley; and Tim Durden (Lori), granddaughters Chloe (Jonathan) Kenton and Caylee, and

grandson TJ Durden.

She is also survived by her stepchildren, Michelle Page and her sons, JD Page (Alayna and Alex)

and Thomas Page; Michael Hendrix (Mary) and their children, Alyssa and Aiden; and Matthew

Hendrix (Heather) and their son, Joseph.

Marge is also survived by her sister, Martha Wilbanks; sisters-in-law, Grace Collins (Curtis) and

Sue Collins (George); and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research

Hospital or to a charity of your choice.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19th, at the First

Baptist Church of Statesboro. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
