Del Hunter
Ferguson
November 17, 1993 – April 4, 2026
Del Hunter Ferguson went to be with the Lord on Passover weekend. Hunter loved Jesus. And in the presence of Jesus was the place that Hunter sought for peace.
Hunter loved the land. He loved the soil.
He loved music and creating music.
He loved building things out of scraps.
He was a hard worker and helped build the foundation of his family’s farm that was named after him.
Every pecan tree, peach and walnut tree on the farm is there because of Hunter’s determination to keep them watered and alive. Every field. Every gate. Every trail in the woods has Hunter’s heart all through it. When spring arrived, beautiful wildflowers would show up because of the seeds that he had sown.
Hunter was charismatic and driven. Playing on the Southeast Bulloch Football team, Hunter held the right defensive end position. On the SEB wrestling team, Hunter was a four-year starter. His sophomore year, he placed in region, earning a chance to compete at state. His junior year, he won region and placed fourth in state. In his senior year, Hunter started off with a preseason tournament win, earning the MVP award.
He went on to have an undefeated season, winning every match with no defeats. Hunter won region and placed fourth in state for a second time, and earned Most Valuable Wrestler of the SEB wrestling team.
Hunter was born on November 17, 1993. Son to Shannon Caruso, and Del and Debra Ferguson. He is survived by his brothers Anthony Ferguson, Chris Ferguson, Nicholas Caruso, and Edward Kosmela, and by his sisters Kristan Fretwell and Becky Corely. Hunter loved his many nieces and nephews, so very much.
Hunter’s passing on Saturday, April 4, 2026, was the day he appeared in heaven with the risen Savior that he earnestly wanted to see.
Funeral services will be private. We ask friends and extended family to come to his memorial service, which will be held at Statesboro Compassion Christian Church on April 18 at 12 o’clock noon.
Hunter deeply loved the unfortunate—those with trials and struggles. He deeply loved and cared for people who were hurting. All through his life, he gave everything he had to help someone in need, oftentimes emptying out his wallet, literally giving the shirt off his back and the shoes off his feet.
One of Hunter's favorite scriptures was Micah 7:8 which declares: "Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me".
With a tattoo on his right arm he proudly proclaimed Romans 1:16 which states: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hunter’s Heart, a foundation that will support those struggling with addiction by providing financial assistance for healing and recovery.
