CODIE DANIELLE SUMMERLIN, age 41 - August 22, 1985 - October 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Codie, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who departed this world on October 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 22, 1985, in Augusta, Georgia, Codie was a beacon of light whose warmth touched everyone she met.
Codie was the cherished daughter of Billy Dyches and Sandy Sapp, and she shared a close bond with her brothers, Nicholas and Spencer Dyches. She knew the joy of true love and companionship when she married James Summerlin on May 7, 2007. Together, Codie and James built a family filled with laughter and love, raising three children Justin, Jordyn, and Peyton Summerlin, who were the pride and joy of her life.
A dedicated educator, Codie returned to complete her high school education in 2014 and pursued higher education, earning her teaching credentials. For six years, she worked as a lead teacher at Bumblebee Day Care, where her passion for nurturing young minds was evident. Codie's colleagues and students were not just co-workers and pupils, but extensions of her family, and she chose to remain with them, valuing their camaraderie above all.
Active in her faith, Codie was a devoted member of Crossroads Community Church in Statesboro, Georgia. In the summer of 2026, she publicly reaffirmed her faith by being baptized, a testament to her unwavering belief in the power of love and community.
Codie's creativity shone through in her love for arts and crafts, particularly diamond painting and drawing. Her artistic endeavors were just one of the many ways she expressed her vibrant spirit. She adored her three dogs, who were as much a part of the family as her children, and they brought her endless joy.
Those who knew Codie will remember her as a selfless soul with an infectious laugh that could light up any room. Her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need was a hallmark of her character, and her legacy of compassion and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family will receive guests at 12:00 PM prior to a service to celebrate Codie's life on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Bulloch Funeral Care & Cremation, located at 22757 US- 80, Statesboro, GA 30461, United States. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Codie's honor.
As her family reflects on the life of their beloved Codie, they offer this heartfelt message: "A mother's life does not end when her heart takes its final beat. She lives on in the lessons she taught, the strength she passed down, the memories she left behind, and the pieces of her that will forever live within her children. Though her hands can no longer hold us, her love will carry us for the rest of our lives." Codie's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
